There will always be those who will tell you that as you can still work out without them, you don’t really need to bring them along. Well, perhaps the single most important consideration of all is ensuring you get the perfect size and fit. Most people have their own personal preferences when it comes to how tight or loose they like their gym gloves. However, it’s important to ensure that they fit snugly enough, while at the same time not being so tight as to affect blood-flow and movement. Fitness gloves will almost always be fingerless and offered in the usual sizes Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large. They’re generally made of flexible materials to accommodate as many hand sizes as possible, but be sure to order from a vendor that allows exchanges, just in case there’s a problem with the fit.
Exactly how durable you need your workout gloves to be will be determined by how you intend to use them. For example, if you only plant to work out lightly and on an infrequent basis, you will probably find basic nylon gloves sufficient. By contrast, for heavier and more prolonged use, you’ll need to look for gloves that feature materials like neoprene or leather. Just as some gloves are designed to remain robust and damage-free for the long-term, others offer more of a temporary solution.
Something else to take into account is whether the gloves are washable, along with suitable washing methods. Most quality gloves can be tossed in the washing machine, thereby making them easy to keep fresh and clean. However, others need to be hand-washed and wouldn’t be able to withstand a machine wash.

However, if your workout is based more around CV, the need for heavy-duty grip decreases. In all instances however, it is important to choose quality gloves that provide at least a basic amount of grip, as opposed to those that become slippery and therefore dangerous while in use.
Flexibility and Breathability
Rigid fitness gloves offer the best possible support for those focusing on weightlifting. However, they are not suitable for exercises where freedom of movement and flexibility are required. Flexibility is therefore something to be taken into account, in accordance with your exercising preferences. One quality that is favourable across the board however is that of breathability. This basically refers to the ability of the gloves to allow air to pass through the material, in order to help keep hands comfortably cool at all times.
Cushioning and Support
Last but not least, pay close attention to the product description in terms of what it says about cushioning and support. Gloves that offer maximum padding and protection can be great for weight-lifting and high-impact activities, though lack the flexibility and freedom of movement required for others. Likewise, padding can have an impact on the individual’s ability to grip objects tightly, which must again be brought into consideration.
